Mosquito Shield was formed by David Briggs in 2002. David is a certified MNA nurseryman, and holds a degree in agronomics from the University of Massachusetts, as well as several pesticide certifications.
In addition to his formal training and education, David draws on decades of family business experience. The Briggs family has been in the landscape and lawn care service industry for over 45 years, Dave's father Pat having founded Briggs Nursery Landscaping and Garden Center in North Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1961. The business still thrives today under the management of brother Gary.
In 1992 David opened his first NaturaLawn of America franchise in North Attleboro. That business has since expanded to include 4 other franchises in southeastern Massachusetts, with annual revenues exceeding $4 million. In addition, David has launched other successful landscape ventures including StayGreen Irrigation and BioTree organic tree and shrub care. After the success of these ventures, David recognized the niche for a mosquito control service, and Mosquito Shield was born.
Since 2005 Mosquito Shield's customer base, operating revenues and fleet size have doubled each year. 2006 saw the company's service area expand by 15 towns, and the company now covers all of Norfolk, Bristol and Plymouth counties. Additional service areas were added in 2007 and more offices are planned for 2008.
